A good soup please!

On September 29, La Tablée des Chefs officially launched its Les Soupes Solidaires project!

The announcement was made at elementary school Saint-Joseph, in St-Hubert, in the company of several government representatives: André Lamontagne, Minister of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, Chantal Rouleau, Minister responsible for Social Solidarity and Community Action, Isabelle Poulet, Member of the National Assembly for Laporte, and Isabelle Moïse, Director of Operations - Strategic Issues and Development at RECYC-QUÉBEC.

At the press conference, La Tablée des Chefs General Manager Jean-François Archambault and Project Manager Jonathan Varin took the floor to explain the ins and outs of Soupes Solidaires to the dignitaries and media in attendance.

Essentially, the project involves preparing soups from unsold or discarded foodstuffs (vegetables, spices, herbs). The soups are then distributed to pupils in 20 elementary school with a high index of disadvantage. The idea may seem simple on the surface, but La Tablée des Chefs pulls off a tour de force by coordinating all the logistics between the distributors/producers/suppliers, the kitchens that concoct the soups and the participating schools. In short, there are many ingredients in the recipe and in the success of this project!

Long live this initiative, which helps feed children while reducing food waste! Soup's on!
